Washington Nationals Headlines

Towards the end of last week, some rumors surrounding Chicago Cubs Third baseman Kris Bryant possibly got traded to the Washington Nationals. According to MLB.com'sMLB.com's Jon Morosi, the Washington Nationals are interested in trading for Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant. Additionally, according to Morsi'sMorsi's multiple sources, the Nationals are also interested in utility infielder player DJ LeMahieu whom they also pursued as a free agent two offseason ago.

There is some speculation that Carter Kieboom and a pitcher or even center fielder Victor Robles might be part of a trade package for the third baseman Kris Bryant.

Bryant, who is currently 28, is coming off by far the worst season of his career when he batted just .206 with four homers and 11 RBIs. The one flag that gets raised is that Bryant is only one year away from free agency, so if the Nationals do engage the Cubs with a trade, it would be a smart idea to negotiate a long-term deal with Bryant to keep him in Washington for longer than a year especially if they are going to be trading away a couple of prospects. As we have noted, the Nationals need a third baseman after losing Anthony Rendon to the Angels in free agency last December. Washington third basemen's hit a combined .204 batting average and only two home runs this shortened season.

We take a deep dive at what Kris Bryant could bring to the Washington Nationals. Read the article here
