Welcome to the Morning Briefing! Richard here, writing this morning’s briefing. The Nationals kick off a six-game homestand tonight against the Miami Marlins and then face the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Nationals will kick off a six-game homestand tonight against the Miami Marlins and then face the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, they could not secure the sweep yesterday in Detroit, snapping their five-game winning streak.
LHP Patrick Corbin went 5.1 innings, giving up only one run on four hits, striking out four, and walking two. Corbin faced 22 batters and threw 94 pitches, 58 being strikes. The Nationals couldn’t provide Corbin with any run support and lost 7-2. [Click here for the Game Recap]
The Nationals are 1.5 games out of the last Wild Card Spot in the NL for those keeping track. It's a crowded field, and there is still a lot of baseball to be played!
