Leading today’s Morning Briefing: Dusty Baker was surprised by son Darren during the lineup exchange. We often forget how much baseball means to families around the country. We get caught up in the daily ups and downs, how much free agent signs for, once in a while, we need to89 take a break and remember that there is more to baseball, and yesterday afternoon provided us with that moment. Before the start of the Astros - Nationals game, Astros manager Dusty Baker (and former Washington Nationals manager) made his way to home plate to give his lineup to current Nationals manager Dave Martinez, and Baker then realized quickly that it wasn’t Martinez who was standing there waiting for him. Instead, Martinez decided to send Darren Baker, Dusty’s son, to do the exchange. Father and son embraced at the plate, turning a typical baseball event into a special memory. Not only did Darren deliver the lineup card, but his RBI also ended up being the difference-maker in yesterday's Spring Training game against the Astros. Nationals' number one pitching prospect Cade Cavalli, put a nice ending to the game by having 5 K's in his 2 innings to close out the game for the first Curly W in the books for the 2022 season.

A Pair of Pitchers Make their 2022 season debut yesterday. Anibal Sanchez was the starting pitcher for yesterday's game and from the broadcast and stats, it looks like the 38-year-old pitcher, is in good form. Anibal Sanchez went 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and two walks while striking out three Sunday afternoon. Also making his pitching debut for the Washington Nationals was 34-year old Steve Cishek. Cishek only pitched one inning giving up one run on two hits and had two strikeouts.
