JAKE IRVIN ON 15-DAY IL

⚾ DUGOUT DISPATCH

After an impressive outing Saturday against the Braves, Jake Irvin has been placed on the 15-day injured list. After throwing seven strikeouts and allowing zero hits through five innings, Irvin left the game with a right shoulder strain.

📊 THE BOX SCORE:

  • MRI results: The MRI confirmed that the injury was a strain. Irvin reported feeling tightness in his right shoulder at the end of the fifth inning. While he says he has experienced discomfort before, this time he could tell something was different.

  • Replacement: The Nationals have recalled PJ Poulin from the Rochester Red Wings to serve as a relief pitcher and help the bullpen for the time being.

  • Coach's thoughts: Blake Butera wants to give him enough time to rest so that he is comfortable with his return. Butera said, “I plan on him feeling good when he starts throwing.”

🗣️ LOCKER ROOM LORE

Irvin believes he will be playing again shortly. Irvin said, “We have a good medical team here that will help me take care of it, and then we’ll be back as soon as possible.”

JACKSON KENT MAKES HIS TRIPLE-A DEBUT

⚾ DUGOUT DISPATCH

After moving to Triple-A earlier this month, Jackson Kent made his debut with the Rochester Red Wings. The 23-year-old has been making a name for himself in Double-A and is now taking it to the next level with hopes of being brought up to the Nationals.

📊 THE BOX SCORE:

  • In Double-A: In his seven games played in Double-A 2026, Kent had an ERA of 2.35 and a WHIP of 0.88. His stats have improved throughout his time in the minors, so the extra development time has worked in his favor.

  • Fastball speed: In his time in the minors, his fastball speed has increased from the low 90s to now, topping out at around 95 mph.
