Today, the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) will announce the results of its 2021 Hall of Fame during MLB Network's live broadcast from Cooperstown, New York. This year there was a lot of controversy surrounding the players that were on the ballot. It should be interesting to see which players receive 75% of the votes and get enshrined with this year's Hall of Fame class. As we reported last week, there were rumors of massive changes coming to MASN's coverage of the Washington Nationals, and yesterday, it happened. The network announced that hosts Alex Chappell and Bo Porter were fired as a result of the channel cutting the team's pre and post-game coverage. Please read our article urging Major League Baseball to step up and fix this mess already.
Additionally, MASN announced yesterday that they are planning to launch in-market streaming for all 300+ Orioles and Nationals games. From the release: "For the first time ever, fans throughout MASN's seven-state broadcast territory will have the opportunity to live stream the network's entire programming lineup - including all Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals games - by using the new MASN app and authenticating via TV provider log-in... Through the new app, which is expected to launch by Opening Day, viewers will have access to real-time player statistics, live scoring updates, and insider analysis from the MASNsports.com team. The MASN app will be expanded to feature unique video and editorial content, live odds, and gaming analysis.Streaming will be available within MASN's seven-state telecast territory without any additional costs to authenticated subscribers who already have MASN in their channel lineup from participating cable or satellite providers.
When will Baseball start Spring Training for the 2021 Season? During a global pandemic, your guess is as good as ours. As of now, things seem to be going according to schedule, with Pitchers and Catchers reporting next month. However, the question remains if Spring Training will start on time. Yesterday, according to KPNX in Phoenix, eight leaders of the Cactus league cities sent a letter to Major League Baseball stating it would be "wise" to delay the start of spring training due to the high rate of COVID-19 infections in Arizona's Maricopa County.
