Leading today's Morning Breifing: Arizona Fall League Kicks off with a Walk-Off Win

Last night, the Arizona Fall League opened with a thrilling 1-0 walk-off victory for the Mesa Solar Sox over the Surprise Saguaros. Athletics' top prospect Denzel Clarke played a key role in the win, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and scoring the game's only run.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Clarke led off with a line-drive single, stole second base, and came home on an RBI single by Max Ferguson.

Washington Nationals prospects participating in this year's Arizona Fall League will begin their games with the Salt River Rafters tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, as they face the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Catching up on some off-season news

While the Major League Baseball post-season is busy, the Washington Nationals did make some news last week.

According to Francys Romero Author of "El sueño y la realidad" Historias de la emigración del béisbol cubano, the Washington Nationals have named Victor Rodriguez as their new Director of International Operations, per sources. Rodriguez has several years of experience in the international market. He was the Boston Red Sox's area supervisor and Dominican Republic Crosschecker.

Rodriguez then worked for the Tampa Bay Rays as an area scout and international cross-checker before joining the Washington Nationals in 2023, where he served as Director of Latin America.

Post-season baseball has already been a lot of fun to watch! Over the weekend some serious sparks were flying on both coasts.
