Good Monday Morning, Washington Nationals Fans. Happy Offseason!  What a day in sports yesterday! Unfortunately, there wasn't so much baseball chaos caused, but it was fun to watch, that's for sure!

Let's get into the latest happenings with the Washington Nationals.

Boston Comes to Town... Well, with nothing to play for, the Washington Nationals got a small reminder of what 2019 felt like, even if it was just for a weekend. Unfortunately, the Nationals 2021 ended on a low note, being swept by the RedSox.  Yesterday, the Nationals were heading into the late innings, and like what has happened many times during the season, the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. There was one bright spot, and that was the performance of RHP Joan Adon. Adon was extremely impressive in yesterday's game, going five innings, giving up four hits, and only allowing one run.

Adon threw 78 pitches, with 48 being strikes, struck out eight, and only walked one batter. The offense was also impressive, with the Nationals scoring five runs with RBI's from Alex Avila, Jordy Mercer, and Employee #11: Ryan Zimmerman.

Talking about Ryan Zimmerman.... If yesterday was the last time we saw Ryan Zimmerman on the field and playing in a Washington Nationals uniform, then his send-off hit a perfect tone. Honestly, even watching the game from my house, I even shed a tear. Zimmerman took the field by himself between the seventh and eighth innings, only to have Josh Bell come and replace him, to a standing ovation by the Nationals crowd, fellow teammates, and even the Boston RedSox players.

Latest Headlines

In an interview after the game, Zimmerman said: "I think it just kind of shows you how much this city means to me, how much the organization means to me... I wouldn't say I was surprised [by the emotions during the game] -- ever since I've had two daughters, I cry all the time anyways."

If Zimmerman chooses to return to the Nationals, his spot on the roster seems to be secure. In a pre-game interview, GM Mike Rizzo said: "Ryan Zimmerman has a place on this roster as a player as long as Mike Rizzo is the GM... So whenever he wants to take a Major League contract, just call me up and we'll give him one."

In the coming week, prospects from all Major League Teams will start to head to Arizona for Fall League Baseball, and the team will be sending some of their prospects such as RHP Jackson Rutledge, RHP Cole Henry, and RHP Todd Peterson.
