The Nationals remain hopeful for a win tomorrow after dropping another one to the Mets.

Washington D.C. — The Washington Nationals dropped another one against the Mets tonight. The Nationals record is now 27-33 and are 10-15 at home.

LHP DJ Herz got the start and made his Major League Debut tonight against the Mets. Herz went 4.0 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. He faced 21 batters and threw 75 pitches, 48 of which were strikes.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Nationals scored two runs on only two hits. In the bottom of the fifth, Jacob Young got an RBI single and was in the lineup for the first time in a few games, scoring the Nationals’s first and last runs. Young went 3-3 with two RBI tonight.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the seventh inning that Joey Gallo got an RBI single, scoring Jesse Winker, that the Nationals got their final run of the evening.

CJ Abrams returned to the Nationals lineup tonight after being out of the lineup for the past few games. Abrams went 1-4 for the game with a walk.  The Nationals went 3-for-10, with runners in scoring position, leaving eight runners on base.

The Nationals did bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth tonight, however, the Mets held on for the win.

Next, the Washington Nationals will wrap up their three-game series and look to avoid being swept by the New York Mets. The Nationals will send LHP Patrick Corbin (1-6, 5.83) to the mound, and they will face RHP Luis Severino (3-2, 3.52), who is scheduled to get the start for the New York Mets.
