Nats Rough Week Turns Into Huge Bounce Back
Getting swept mid-week proves as wake up call for Nats as they bounce back in a big way

In an annoying 3 game series for the Nats and their fans from Monday-Wednesday this week, the Nats got swept by the Marlins, dropping them back below .500. After a great run they had been on recently it seemed all their hard earned progress had come to a complete stop. That lasted for about 24 hours on their Thursday rest day, as when it was time for the Nats to play again Friday at Arizona, they showed the mid-week slump was just a minor setback.
In their 2 games these past days feeding into the weekend, the Nats have scored 20 combined runs, and boosted 7 home runs. It’s not only offensively either, as in those two blowout wins, they held the previously 33-29 Arizona Diamondbacks to 2 combined runs between the games. Now while obviously getting swept is about the worst thing that can happen to a team, there’s not many better ways to bounce back from one than how the Nats did. Going 4-3 in their last 7 games, the Nats have a chance today to show how little that rough 3 game sweep meant to them, and get those 3 games right back.
This week showed 2 very different ends of the spectrum, with hardly any positives offensively in their 3 games against the Marlins, and too many positives to cover offensively in their last 2 games. As predicted after their disappearance against the Marlins, the dynamic duo of CJ Abrams and James Wood were out for a vengeance when it was time to play baseball again on Friday. In the last 2 games against the Diamondbacks, Wood is 3-8 with a homer and 4 Runs Scored, while Abrams went 2-8 with 2 runs scored and a homer as well. Also providing great boosts to the offense have been Curtis Mead, Daylen Lile and Luis Garcia Jr. Garcia was the most impressive out of them on Friday, going 2-6 with 6 RBIS and 2 homers, an absolutely insane statline. Lile and Mead also provided homers in the games, as it starts to seem like one of them is guaranteed to have a big game every time they play ball.
Lets hope the Nats can close out this series equally strong, and take the momentum into the new week!
