Nats have Mediocre Week, Look to Push Forward
Nats go 2-4 in last 6, look to regroup headed into major week ahead

The Nats currently move into the weekend sitting at 25-27 on the season, 3rd place in the NL East. Struggling to find momentum, at one point this week it looked like the Nats were gonna climb above .500 and leave it in the dust behind them. Sitting at .500 after back to back wins against the Mets in the middle of the week, the Nats went on to lose the last game of the series against the Mets to drop them back below, and then lose a heartbreaker against the Braves last night in their chance to get back.
Recently, extra innings have been a real struggle for the Nats, losing 2 games this week in extras, and sitting at 4-5 in extra-inning game this season. In both extra losses this week, they had different ends of the spectrum, being up in one of them and the bullpen blowing it, and not being able to score with bases loaded in the other, leaving their bullpen out to dry. It has been inconsistencies like these that have kept the Nats away from a .500 record. Hopefully this week we can see them continue to work them out.
Despite the inconsistencies, the Nats offense still has been unstoppable, leading the league in runs per game with 5.46. Despite cooling off slightly since the start of the season, this offense has been what keep the Nats in games, led recently by names like Daylen Lile, James Wood and of course MLB’s current RBI leader CJ Abrams. It seems whenever the pitching is having a terrible game, the high-powering offense has been able to keep them in it, and give the Nats a chance later on in the game.
As the Nats continue through this week facing 3 straight MLB top-10 powerhouses, they have got to work on finding momentum in what’s hot for them, and letting it push them back to .500 and above. Look for them to get out of their current 2 game losing streak and chain together some wins, led by the much improved bullpen and offense looking to play good when the pitching is solid.
