Early Game Heroics Lead to Amazing Week for Nats

In their 6 games since the last weekend recap article, the Nats have scored 6 total runs combined in their 7th, 8th and 9th innings. Their record since then? 4-2 with a 4 game win streak to start the week. How have they been able to do this? Well it helps when in those 6th games the Nats have scored 16 runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings of those games. The Nats Early Game Heroics have put games out of reach early, and gotten and kept them above .500.

Currently sitting at 29-29 this year and 3rd in the NL East, one game back of 2nd place, the Nats are having a well above expected year. Despite the record, the Nats could easily be well above .500 on the year, dropping some games in devastating fashion so far and falling on the wrong side of the result. The Nats are also beyond battle tested this year, playing one of the MLB’s hardest schedules. In their series they have played teams like the Dodgers, Brewers, Cubs, Guardians, and Braves twice, and the young front have held their own in the matchups, even winning some of the series, most notably a recent back-to-back series wins against the Guardians and Braves really shows this team can beat the best of the best.

Recently the starting pitching has been playing solid, but as it has been all year, the Nats offense is the best piece of their team, and continues to win their games. As the year is 58 games in the Nats still lead the MLB in runs per game with 5.36. The dynamic duo of CJ Abrams, who is second in the league in RBIs, and James Wood, currently 7th in the league in homers, and continues to heat up every given night.

As for the future of the Nats, all 4 of their minor league affiliates are above .500, each top 2 in their league with a chance to compete for a championship later in the year. There is no shortage of prospects either, with the Nats top 30 prospects constantly updating and new names getting called up by the day, be sure to keep updated on theFuture twitter for any updates.
