Nationals Finalizing Roster and Clubhouse Moves with Opening Day less than a week away.
Following our Spring Breakout Game Thursday, we see how bright the future is in the Minors, and what our starting lineups will look like in the Majors for Opening Day.

As we all know by now, the Washington Nationals kick of their regular season this week, with Opening Day in Chicago against the Cubs on Thursday March 26, 2025 at 2:20 PM ET. In this last full week of spring training we have seen our players in the Minors who will continue to make waves, continuing their Major League Development and the final pieces of the starting lineups fall into place for a great MLB Opening Day.
With one of the most stacked prospect classes in the MLB, the Nats are steadily building and developing their players by showcasing this in their Spring Training and Breakout game. Following our Nationals Spring Breakout Game, we really got to see who has started to shine and how bright our future really is. In the game, we saw Nats Prospect Gavin Fien go for 5 RBIs in a 3-4 batting performance. Alongside him, we got to see first overall pick Eli Willits and Nat’s no. 7 Prospect Seaver King, take the diamond together showcasing what our future might look like. While these 3 will all start in the Minors and continue to develop further, there’s no telling how soon we could see them called up.
Similar to these guys, one Rookie Nats prospect once playing in the Minors; Brady House is slated to make the Opening Day Starting Lineup. House, who debuted in 2025 has had a fantastic 2026 Spring Training and is slated to start on Opening Day for the Nats at third base. Also some more recent news, despite being expected to take part of the Opening Day starting lineup, CF Dylan Crews will be optioned to Triple-A Rochester to start the season. Crews will continue to try and figure it out after a challenging spring training and will be ready to get back in the lineup as soon as he can.
As for finalizing our pitching rotation, following Spring Training, Nats pitcher Jake Irvin is set to take the 5th and final Starting Pitcher Spot. Following some questions in the lineup after the 2025 season, Irvin put in work in the offseason, showing off new levels of control and poise in his Spring Training starts. With trust that he can continue to develop and shine with his talents, we will see him in the starting rotation alongside Cavalli, Littell, Griffin and Mikolas come Opening Day.
