ALL STAR FAN VOTING STARTS

⚾ DUGOUT DISPATCH

As summer approaches, something people are talking about is the MLB All-Star Game. Today marks the start of fan voting for the All-Star Game, which runs till June 25. All-Star weekend starts July 10 and goes till July 14.

📊 THE BOX SCORE:

  • Fan Voting Rules: In the first voting period, fans can vote up to 5 times per day for who they think deserves an All-Star spot. The second voting period runs from June 29 to July 2 and will determine the starters for the game.

  • Potential Nationals All-Stars: James Wood and CJ Abrams are very high contenders to be National League All-Stars. Wood leads the MLB in runs (53) and OPS (.952), and leads the National League in home runs (16). Abrams leads all shortstops in OPS (.926), home runs (12), RBIs (47), and is second in shortstop batting average (.294).

  • Competition: Wood and Abrams aren't guaranteed an All-Star selection just because they have great stats. They have tough competition from other All-Star caliber players. Wood will be competing with Ronald Acuna Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, Oniel Cruz, and the rest of the NL's great outfielders, while Abrams is competing with Elly De La Cruz, Otto Lopez, Willy Adames, and many other qualified shortstops.

🗣️ LOCKER ROOM LORE

Blake Butera commented on Woods and Abrams, saying, “They’re the last ones here to leave every night”. They are putting in the work and are hoping it pays off.

📈 MORNING STAT

Collectively, either James Wood or CJ Abrams is top 5 in the national league in the following stats: OBP, OPS, HR, RBI, slugging percentage, and Runs.

NATS MOVE MIGUEL SIME JR. UP TO HIGH-A

⚾ DUGOUT DISPATCH

The 2025 fourth-round pick and number 17 prospect is being promoted from single-A to high-A. Sime has a high ceiling, and the Nats see the 19-year-old's potential and feel he's ready to make the jump.

📊 THE BOX SCORE:

  • ERA: A 4.44 is not the best ERA, but the Nats believe that with higher-level coaching, he can become a threat due to his ability to strike out batters.

  • Strikeout Rate: Sime Jr. has an 18.46 K/9 rate, which is the highest in the minor leagues.

  • Speed: Sime has the gift of being able to throw a 100 mph fastball at 19 years old. The Nats believe that over time, more training and higher-level experience will lead to better control and possibly faster pitches.

🗣️ LOCKER ROOM LORE

The Nationals player development Twitter says, “There's some filthy stuff headed to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
