WASHINGTON NATIONALS MINOR LEAGUE DAILY RECAP
Team of the Week: Harrisburg Senators

The Double-A Harrisburg Senators earn this week’s honors after taking four of six games from the Portland Sea Dogs in an evenly matched series. The Senators’ balanced performance, scoring 26 runs and finishing with a positive run differential, highlighted both offensive consistency and strong pitching.
First baseman Branden Boissiere and second baseman Phillip Glasser led the offensive charge. Boissiere posted a .333 average across the series, collecting three extra-base hits and driving in five runs.
Glasser, the former Indiana Hoosier, continues to be a model of consistency. Known for his “slap hitter” persona, an all-fields approach, the left-handed hitter batted .308 in the series while adding his sixth home run of the season and a pair of RBIs. Glasser continues to break through the wall between him and Triple-A Rochester; you would have to think it’s only a matter of time before he gets the call.
On the mound, left-hander Jake Bennett continued his quiet dominance since returning from Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old Oklahoma product tossed five shutout innings on Saturday, extending his scoreless streak to 10 consecutive innings. Over that span, Bennett has walked four and struck out four. Over three levels (Low-A-Double-A) and 47 innings this season, Bennett has a 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, as well as a .221 opponents’ batting average against him.
Thanks to some reinforcements from lower levels and new acquisitions following the trade deadline, Harrisburg is starting to get its second half back on track.

Daily Report From Rochester:
NORFOLK, VA — The Rochester Red Wings closed out a brutal six-game series against the Norfolk Tides with a 6-1 loss Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park, falling for the fifth time in the set.
The game remained scoreless into the fifth before Norfolk broke through with three straight walks to load the bases. Samuel Basallo cleared them with a three-run double down the right field line, giving the Tides a 3-0 lead.
Norfolk added three more runs in the sixth, capitalizing on a Red Wings error, a two-run single by Livan Soto, a sacrifice fly from Maverick Handley, and another RBI knock by Basallo to blow the game open at 6-0.
Rochester’s lone run came in the top of the ninth, when Yohandy Morales launched a solo home run, his eighth of the season, over the left-field wall. But the rally fizzled quickly, sealing the Wings’ 6-1 defeat.
Bryce Conley made his eighth start of the season for Rochester, going 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking six and striking out five. RHP Holden Powell followed, allowing three unearned runs over 1.2 innings.
Recent trade deadline acquisition from the Chicago Cubs: Christian Franklin is hitting .364 with a .981 OPS in six games since joining the team back on August 1.
The Red Wings (43-68) return home to begin a 12-game homestand, starting with a series against the International League’s second-half leaders, the Syracuse Mets. First pitch for game one is slated for Tuesday, August 12, at 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Harrisburg:
HARRISBURG, PA — Branden Boissiere delivered a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday afternoon, giving the Harrisburg Senators a 3-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs at FNB Field.
The game remained scoreless until the sixth, when Seaver King broke through with an RBI double to put Harrisburg ahead 1-0. Portland tied it in the eighth on a wild pitch, but the Senators responded in the ninth. After Kevin Made singled with one out, Boissiere launched his first Double-A home run to right field, marking the team’s fourth walk-off homer of the season.
Reliever Austin Amaral earned the win, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Despite allowing eight hits, the Senators’ pitching staff limited Portland to just one run on the day.
Harrisburg (52-55) will look to bring its positive momentum up north to Hartford, Connecticut, where they will settle down for a six-game series with the Yard Goats beginning on Tuesday, August 12, at 6:35 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Wilmington:
ABERDEEN, MD — Alex Clemmey delivered six no-hit innings and the Wilmington Blue Rocks erupted for six late runs to top the Aberdeen IronBirds, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Leidos Field.
Clemmey was dominant, striking out eight over six scoreless, hitless innings while allowing just three walks. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 2.47 with the outing, keeping Aberdeen’s bats quiet and giving the Blue Rocks time to break through offensively.
Wilmington finally got on the board in the top of the seventh, when a wild pitch from Rodolfo Martinez allowed Jared McKenzie to score, giving the Blue Rocks a 1-0 lead.
The offense erupted in the ninth. Donta’ Williams singled home Nate Rombach to make it 2-0, and Caleb Lomavita followed with a bases-clearing single to left that brought in Armando Cruz, McKenzie, and Williams. A throwing error allowed Lomavita to reach third as Wilmington extended the lead to 5-0. Jeremy De La Rosa added an RBI double to score McKenzie again, making it 6-0.
Aberdeen answered with a late push in the bottom of the ninth, as Ethan Anderson launched a three-run homer to right, bringing in Vance Honeycutt and Griff O’Ferrall. But it wasn’t enough, and the Blue Rocks held on.
The Blue Rocks (47-60) will be back in action when they welcome the Jersey Shore BlueClaws to town, starting on Tuesday, August 12, at 6:35 p.m. EDT.
Left-handed pitcher Alex Clemmey was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg following his standout performance Sunday. Clemmey had a 2.47 ERA in 87.1 innings pitched with the Blue Rocks.
