Team of the Week: Harrisburg Senators

For the second consecutive week, the Harrisburg Senators have claimed the title of Team of the Week, edging out strong performances from Triple-A Rochester and Low-A Fredericksburg.
The Senators swept a six-game series at the Hartford Yard Goats this past week, extending their winning streak to seven games. Harrisburg outscored Hartford 42-23 over the six games.
Leading the charge were infielder Seaver King and outfielder Branden Boissiere. King, Washington’s first-round pick in 2024 out of Wake Forest, posted a .250 average with a pair of extra-base hits and four RBIs across five games. Notably, he's hitting 29 points higher in August than he did in July.
Boissiere, who was promoted to Harrisburg on July 18, has been red-hot since joining the club. He's slashing .350/.411/.474 overall, and continued his tear in Hartford by batting .346 with two extra-base hits and five RBIs during the series.
On the mound, fireballer Jarlin Susana and Lefty Jake Bennett showed more promise this week. Susana went five innings on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks, while striking out nine men.
Bennett went four innings in his start, not allowing a run. Since being promoted from High-A on July 22, Bennett has a 2.95 ERA in 21.1 innings.
Out in the bullpen, Junior Santos pitched three scoreless innings over two games, lowering his season ERA to 1.89.
Harrisburg improved to three games over .500 (58-55) by the end of the series, nine games back of Akron for first place in the Eastern League’s Southwest Division.

Daily Report From Rochester:
ROCHESTER, NY — The Rochester Red Wings erupted for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back, defeating the Syracuse Mets 9–4 on Sunday afternoon at Innovative Field to claim their fourth win of the series and secure the six-game set.
Every Rochester starter recorded a hit, led by Christian Franklin’s three-hit day, including his fifth triple of the season, and Jackson Cluff, who launched the first grand slam of his professional career to headline the opening-frame onslaught.
Cluff’s 392-foot slam came as the eighth batter in the inning, capping a stretch that saw the Red Wings send 11 men to the plate. The inning featured five singles, a walk, and a stolen base by Nasim Nuñez, who scored the eighth run on a fielder’s choice.
Starter Adrian Sampson was dominant, allowing just two hits and no earned runs over six innings to earn his third win in a Red Wings uniform. He walked one and struck out three. Rochester’s bullpen held the line, with Erick Mejia tossing a clean seventh and Andry Lara finishing the final 1.1 innings with two strikeouts after Joan Adon allowed three runs in the eighth.
Franklin added to the lead in the fifth with an RBI triple that scored Nuñez, who had reached on a walk, making it 9–1. The Mets plated three in the eighth behind an RBI single from Ryan Clifford, a triple by Jose Azocar, and a wild pitch, but the comeback bid fell short.
Rochester (47-70) will stay home to open a six-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens on Tuesday, August 19, with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Harrisburg:
HARTFORD, CT — The Harrisburg Senators closed out their road series in dominant fashion Sunday afternoon, routing the Hartford Yard Goats 11–2 at Dunkin’ Park to complete a six-game sweep.
Fueled by a 14-hit offensive explosion, Harrisburg set the tone early and never looked back. Joe Naranjo opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning, followed by a run-scoring groundout from Viandel Peña and an RBI single from Maxwell Romero Jr. Peña delivered the knockout punch in the third with a two-out grand slam to right field, extending the lead to 7–0. Harrisburg would add four more runs later in the game.
Peña led the way offensively, driving in five runs on the day. Sam Brown added three hits, including an RBI triple, while Branden Boissiere also collected three hits. Seaver King capped the afternoon with a two-run homer in the eighth.
On the mound, starter Erik Tolman and Hyun-il Choi combined to stifle Hartford’s offense through the early innings. The bullpen duo of Jack Sinclair and Chance Huff kept the Yard Goats quiet the rest of the way to secure the series finale.
Harrisburg (58-55) heads to Erie to play the SeaWolves for a six-game series starting on Tuesday, August 19, at 6:05 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Wilmington:
WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Blue Rocks were shut out 7-0 by the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Sunday afternoon at Frawley Stadium, settling for a series split in the finale of their six-game set.
Jersey Shore struck early in the second inning with an RBI single from Brock Vradenburg, then added to the lead in the sixth when Raylin Heredia plated Jose Rodriguez with a single to left. The BlueClaws tacked on an insurance run in the seventh via a sacrifice fly from Devin Saltiban before breaking the game open with a four-run ninth.
That final frame included an RBI single by Kehden Hettiger, two bases-loaded walks, and a second sacrifice fly from Heredia, who finished with two RBIs.
Wilmington starter Alexander Meckley, making his first High-A appearance since being promoted from Fredericksburg, turned in a strong outing. The right-hander allowed just one earned run over 5.2 innings and struck out six.
Outside of a rough ninth inning from Jared Simpson (4 ER), the Blue Rocks bullpen held firm. Matthew Bollenbacher, Johan Otanez, and Anthony Arguelles combined to allow just one run over 3.1 innings.
However, the offense never found its footing, managing only three hits—singles by Jeremy De La Rosa, Jared McKenzie, and Jackson Ross.
Wilmington (50-63) now heads out on a 12-game road trip, beginning with a six-game series against the Winston-Salem Dash starting Tuesday, August 19, at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — After trailing by six runs early, the Fredericksburg Nationals pulled off a dramatic 10-9 walk-off win over the Salem Red Sox on Sunday night.
The victory marked Fredericksburg’s second walk-off win of the week and a Minor League Baseball-leading ninth of the season.
Salem jumped out to a 7-1 lead through five innings, including a five-run rally in the fifth, all with two outs, on six hits, and half of them doubles. By that point, the Red Sox had already racked up 11 hits against Fred-Nats starter Luke Johnson and the bullpen.
But Fredericksburg responded with a furious rally in the sixth. Kevin Bazzell, Luke Dickerson, and Nick Peoples opened the inning with three straight singles, the last of which scored Bazzell. Randal Diaz followed with a two-run double to cut the deficit to 7-5. After Elijah Green drove in Diaz with a double, Hollifield tied the game 7-7 with an RBI single up the middle.
Both teams scored once more in regulation, sending the game to extras. Salem briefly pulled ahead 9-8 in the top of the 10th on an RBI single by Gerardo Rodriguez, but the Fred-Nats answered immediately. Randal Diaz scored the tying run after reaching third on an error and scoring on Hollifield’s second RBI single of the night.
Fredericksburg finished with 13 hits, led by Hollifield’s clutch two-hit, two-RBI performance. Green also reached base four times and scored twice.
Up next, Fredericksburg (54-54) will host the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in game one of a seven-game series starting on Tuesday, August 19, with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. EDT.
