Daily Report From Rochester:

ROCHESTER, NY — Looking for their first win of the series, the Rochester Red Wings were overpowered by the Toledo Mud Hens Thursday afternoon, falling 16-5.

Andrew Pinckney set a season-high with four hits and reached base five times.

Toledo came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first on homers from Akil Baddoo and Jace Jung, then added three more in the second and another in the third to jump ahead 7-1. Rochester scratched back with sac flies from Nick Schnell and Nuñez, but a seven-run Toledo seventh, capped by Baddoo’s bases-clearing double, put the game away. Baddoo finished with five hits.

Nuñez homered in the eighth after a Darren Baker single to give Rochester its final two runs. Yohandy Morales also picked up two hits and an RBI.

Wings starter Bryce Conley allowed seven runs across 4.0 innings in the start. Jackson Cluff and J.T. Arruda, both infielders, had to pitch in relief, with Arruda tossing a scoreless ninth.

The Red Wings return to action Friday night with Kyle Luckham set to face Toledo’s Nick Margevicius. First pitch at Innovative Field is set for 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Double-A Harrisburg Senators

Daily Report From Harrisburg:

ERIE, PA — The Harrisburg Senators came up just short Thursday night, falling 3–2 to the Erie SeaWolves on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth at UPMC Park.

Carlos Mendoza delivered the decisive blow for Erie, singling to right after a leadoff triple by Ben Malgeri and two intentional walks loaded the bases. The Senators had just tied the game in the top of the frame, as pinch-hitter Phillip Glasser grounded out to short, but a savvy baserunning play by Branden Boissiere in a rundown allowed Cayden Wallace to score the tying run.

Wallace was Harrisburg’s offensive spark again, doubling, walking twice, stealing third, and scoring both runs. Starter Jake Bennett turned in a solid outing, going five innings and allowing just one run, while Sam Brown added a pair of hits.

Despite the late push, Harrisburg missed key opportunities, finishing 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranding eight on base.

The Senators remain one game behind Altoona in the standings, as the Curve also lost on Thursday. Harrisburg has 21 games left in its push for the postseason.

The series continues Friday at 6:05 p.m. EDT. Lefty Alex Clemmey will go to the hill for the Sens. Kenny Serwa will go for the SeaWolves.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

Daily Report From Wilmington:

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — The Wilmington Blue Rocks couldn’t hold a pair of one-run leads Thursday night, falling 5-3 to the Winston-Salem Dash.

Wilmington starter Eriq Swan, acquired from the Dodgers in the Alex Call trade, delivered his best outing yet in the Nationals system. The 23-year-old righty tossed six strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits, with four walks and four strikeouts.

The Blue Rocks scored first on a Caleb Lomavita sac fly in the third and later reclaimed a 2-1 lead in the fifth thanks to Cortland Lawson’s sac fly to left. But trouble brewed late.

In the seventh, a wild pitch by Lucas Knowles allowed Kyle Lodise to score the tying run. The Dash broke it open in the eighth. A sacrifice fly from Cole McConnell plated the go-ahead run, and a stolen base by Jeral Perez, coupled with a throwing error from Lomavita, brought in another. Jackson Appel then drove in Perez with a single to make it 5-2.

Wilmington got one back in the ninth on an Armando Cruz sac fly, but it was too little, too late.

Offensively, Wilmington struggled in key spots, managing just one hit with runners in scoring position.

The Blue Rocks will look to bounce back Friday with Travis Sthele scheduled to start. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Single-A Fredericksburg Nationals

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — In a debut worthy of the hype, Eli Willits, the first overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, jump-started his professional career with a three-hit, two-RBI performance, helping the Fredericksburg Nationals top the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, 10-6, on Thursday night.

At just 17 years old, Willits became the youngest player to ever suit up for the Fred-Nats and he made his mark early. After Fredericksburg opened the scoring with an RBI single from Brenner Cox, Willits stepped up for his first pro plate appearance. He hit a routine grounder to second but hustled down the line to beat out a potential double play, earning his first career RBI in the process. He later stole his first base, checking another milestone off his debut checklist.

Willits wasn’t done. In the fourth, he punched a single through the left side for his first professional hit, and in the sixth, he added another RBI single as part of a six-run frame that broke the game open. Willits capped his night with an infield single in the eighth, finishing 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and a stolen base.

The Fred-Nats set a new season-high with 16 hits, with every starter recording at least one. Ethan Petry, the Nationals' second-round pick, matched Willits with three hits and two RBI, while Elijah Green extended his hitting streak to 11 games, tying a team season-high.

Petry, the South Carolina Gamecock product, is hitting .395 with four extra-base hits and six RBIs in 10 games with Fredericksburg.

On the mound, Brayan Romero (2-4) earned the win with six innings of three-run ball.

With the win, the FredNats moved into a tie for first place in the Carolina League North’s second-half standings. They’ll look to keep the winning ways going Friday night with Liam Sullivan on the mound. Ryan Verdugo will start for Fayetteville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT.
