Daily Report From Rochester:

ROCHESTER, NY — Looking to bounce back Saturday night, the Rochester Red Wings instead suffered another lopsided defeat at the hands of the Toledo Mud Hens, falling 14-4 at Innovative Field.

The loss marks Rochester’s fifth straight and second consecutive game allowing double-digit runs.

Shortstop Jackson Cluff led the Red Wings offense with a 2-for-3 performance, including his 11th home run of the season and a walk. Center fielder Andrew Pinckney also collected two hits and an RBI, but the rest of the Rochester lineup failed to produce consistent offense.

Toledo struck early and often, with Jace Jung launching a three-run homer in the first inning to jumpstart the scoring. After Rochester trimmed the lead to 4-3 by the fourth inning, the Mud Hens broke the game open with a five-run seventh and added five more runs across the eighth and ninth innings, including back-to-back homers from Tomás Nido and Akil Baddoo.

Rochester starter Adrian Sampson kept the game close through six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out five. However, the bullpen unraveled late, with relievers Eduardo Salazar, Julian Fernández, and Zach Brzykcy combining to allow 11 runs in the final three innings. J.T. Arruda, a position player, recorded the final two outs in the ninth.

The Wings showed early signs of life, scoring in the second, third, and fourth innings, with key hits from Francisco Mejía, Pinckney, and Cluff. But after Cluff’s solo shot made it 4-3, the offense was largely silent.

Rochester will look to avoid the series sweep on Sunday afternoon. Riley Cornelio is slated to go against Toledo’s Sawyer Gipson-Long. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Harrisburg:

ERIE, PA — The Harrisburg Senators jumped all over Erie on Saturday night, scoring nine runs in the first inning en route to a dominant 11–3 win at UPMC Park. The explosive victory snapped a two-game skid and improved Harrisburg to 61–58 on the season.

Johnathon Thomas led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, a double, and a stolen base. His two-run double in the first helped set the tone for the Senators’ biggest inning of the season. Carlos De La Cruz delivered the biggest blow of the night with a three-run homer, his 12th of the year, to cap the early onslaught.

Branden Boissiere added two RBI doubles, while veteran Delino DeShields reached base three times, scored three runs, and tripled as part of Harrisburg’s 17-hit performance.

After Erie trimmed the lead to 9–3 in the second inning, Harrisburg’s bullpen took over. Chance Huff earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings, while Daison Acosta and Hyun-il Choi combined to shut down the SeaWolves the rest of the way, striking out seven across five scoreless innings.

The win marked a sharp turnaround after back-to-back losses, as the Senators look to finish the road series strong before returning home.

The series finale is Sunday afternoon, where Jarlin Susana will make another highly anticipated start against Erie’s Garrett Burhenn. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Wilmington:

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — The Wilmington Blue Rocks’ struggles continued Saturday night, as they dropped their sixth consecutive game in a 9–5 loss to the Winston-Salem Dash at Truist Stadium.

Winston-Salem wasted no time jumping ahead in the bottom of the first. Cole McConnell opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by Kyle Lodise’s three-run homer to left-center to give the Dash a 4–0 lead.

The offensive surge continued in the second when Alec Makarewicz doubled home two more runs, pushing the lead to 6–0. In the third, T.J. McCants scored on a throwing error following a stolen base by Ryan Burrowes, making it 7–0. A sacrifice fly by Drake Logan in the fourth and another by Jackson Appel in the fifth extended the Dash's advantage to 9–3.

Wilmington showed signs of life in the middle innings. Caleb Lomavita launched a two-run homer in the fourth, his fourth of the season, and the Blue Rocks added runs in the fifth and sixth on a forceout by Elijah Nunez and a sacrifice fly from Jeremy De La Rosa. Cortland Lawson also chipped in an RBI single in the sixth to bring Wilmington within four.

Despite the rally, the Blue Rocks couldn’t close the gap and were held scoreless over the final three innings, sealing their sixth straight loss.

Wilmington will close out the series Sunday afternoon when they send Davian Garcia to the mound for a 2:00 p.m. EDT first pitch.

Single-A Fredericksburg Nationals

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Nationals came up just short Saturday night, dropping a tightly contested 4-2 decision to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.

Despite a strong outing from starter Luke Johnson and a late push on offense, the FredNats couldn’t close the gap in the sixth game of the series.

Johnson delivered a career-best outing, tossing seven innings while allowing just four hits and striking out a personal-best six batters. He retired the minimum through the first three innings and became just the second FredNats starter to complete seven frames this season. However, a two-run homer by Chase Call in the seventh proved to be the difference.

Fredericksburg took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning. Luke Dickerson, back in the lineup after consecutive days off, opened the frame with a double and later scored on a wild pitch. Fayetteville answered in the fourth on a triple by Anthony Huezo and tied the game before surging ahead in the seventh.

Down 3-1, the FredNats cut the deficit in the eighth thanks to a clutch RBI single from Eli Willits, who continued his hot start at the professional level. Willits is now 5-for-10 across his first three games, with a hit in each contest.

Fredericksburg was unable to complete the comeback, and Fayetteville tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Rafael Gonzalez earned the win, Johnson (0-2) took a tough-luck loss, and Curtis Hebert notched his first save of the season.

The FredNats will look to even the series in the finale on Sunday night. Right-hander Bryan Polanco gets the ball in a 6:05 p.m. EDT start.
