Suprise! We are taking theFUTURE daily. From now until the end of the 2025 Minor League Baseball season, theFUTURE will be released after every single day instead of every week. At The Nats Report, we felt the need to cover the Nationals’ Minor League Affiliates not from a series to series basis, but from a game to game basis, and we are glad to give you even more information than before, from home runs to Statcast metrics, as well as highlight defensive plays or even corky minor league promotion nights. We have it. From time to time, we’ll have some feature articles as well as guest writers. Today’s edition is free to all subscribers! But anyway, we have a lot to cover in this one, so let’s get right to it… Here is theFUTURE.

Triple-A Rochester Red Wings

Daily Report From Rochester:
ALLENTOWN, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings rolled Friday night, taking the first of a three-game set from the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs by the score of 11-4.
The Wings got out to an early lead in the second inning with outfielder Andrew Pinckney sending one over the big wall in right field for a solo home run. But the lead wouldn’t last long, as in the home half of the third inning, outfielder Cal Stevenson would line a double off the center field fence and then later score on a wild pitch after advancing to third on a groundout. The Pigs would go on to add two more runs in the 4th inning. With two outs in the top half of the 6th inning, Andrew Pinckney would strike again by hitting a 418-foot tape measure shot to center field for his 2nd home run of the game and 11th of the year to knot the game up at three. Lehigh Valley would reclaim the lead in the bottom half of the inning. But from then on, it was all Rochester. The Red Wings would stick it to the Lehigh Valley bullpen by sending seven guys across home plate over the last three innings of the game. First baseman Yohandy Morales would continue his hot streak at the plate with a solo shot in the 7th inning. Since July 1, Morales has been hitting .333 with five home runs. Right fielder Nick Schnell would blast the 2nd Red Wing home run of the inning, with this one being a three-run jack to knock the game wide open. In the 9th, outfielder Robert Hassell III would join the hit parade with a two-run double of his own. Rochester’s bullpen would go on to silence the Lehigh Valley offense over the final three innings of the game to secure the first win for Rochester after the Major League All-Star break. Rochester is now 8-11 in the second half and 35-56 overall.
The second game of the series will get underway Saturday at 6:35 p.m. EDT. Philadelphia Phillies top pitching prospect and possible trade bait at the MLB trade deadline later this month, Mick Abel, will toe the mound for Lehigh Valley, while opposing him for the Wings will be Washington Nationals top pitching prospect, Cade Cavalli, who in his last start pitched five innings of one-run ball after a string of bad starts.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

Daily Report From Wilmington:
WILMINGTON, DE. — The Wilmington Blue Rocks fell to 10-12 in the second half of the season after dropping the first game of their series 3-1 to the Aberdeen IronBirds Friday night.
Both teams struggled to score, but it stuck out like a sore thumb for the Blue Rocks as they went a treacherous 1-9 with runners in scoring position (RISP). The one run came in the bottom of the 8th thanks to a sac-fly by designated hitter T.J. White, which scored left fielder Sam Peterson. On the other side of the field, the IronBirds weren’t faring much better with RISP, going a slightly better 2-6, but at the end of the day, it was enough to grab a win. Key performances for Aberdeen came from Thomas Sosa, who hit a solo homer in the game, and for Wilmington, shortstop Cortland Lawson, who registered three hits in the game. Even though starting pitcher Travis Sthele caught the L, he still threw a gem by going seven innings, only allowing two runs on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 6:05 p.m. EDT. Aberdeen hasn’t decided who they will send out to the mound for game two, but Wilmington will send out lefty, Alex Clemmey, who in his last outing before the Major League all-star break got roughed up, but before even that, Clemmey pitched to a 1.45 ERA in June.
