Daily Report From Rochester:

ROCHESTER, NY. — A four-run eighth inning proved to be the difference Saturday night as the Rochester Red Wings fell 6–2 to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Tied 2–2 entering the 8th inning, Scranton/WB broke things open with a string of timely hits, highlighted by a two-out RBI double from Jose Rojas and run-scoring knocks by Nicky Lopez and Andrew Velazquez. Jesus Rodriguez added an infield single, and heads-up baserunning from Velazquez stretched the lead to four.

The Red Wings struck early with a towering solo homer from Andrés Chaparro in the second inning; a 455-foot blast to left center, his eighth of the year. Francisco Meíja later tied the game at 2–2 in the fifth with an RBI single that scored Jackson Cluff.

Starter Shinnosuke Ogasawara turned in 5.1 solid innings for Rochester, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out five. However, reliever Eduardo Salazar gave up all four runs in the 8th inning.

Despite late doubles from Darren Baker and Andrew Pinckney, Rochester couldn’t rally.

The Wings will look to salvage a series split Sunday afternoon, sending RHP Chase Solesky to the mound while opposing him for the RailRiders will be Sean Boyle. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. EDT.
