Daily Report From Rochester:

ROCHESTER, NY. — The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders outslugged the Rochester Red Wings 8-7 in a back-and-forth finale Sunday afternoon, clinching the six-game series, 4-2.

Right fielder Nick Schnell and first baseman Andrés Chapparo each drove in three runs for Rochester, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a relentless RailRiders offense led by designated hitter Jesús Rodríguez’s pair of three-run home runs. Scranton/WB took the lead for good in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by right fielder Bryan De La Cruz, just moments after Rochester had claimed its first lead of the game.

Rodríguez struck early with a 403-foot homer in the third and followed with another in the fourth to push the RailRiders ahead 6-1. Rochester clawed back in the fifth behind Chapparo’s mammoth three-run homer, cutting the deficit to 6-5. Schnell then put the Red Wings on top 7-6 with a two-run blast in the sixth — his 14th of the season.

But Scranton/WB’s third long ball of the afternoon, De La Cruz’s two-run shot in the seventh, flipped the score once more, and the Red Wings couldn’t respond late. Rochester managed just a ninth-inning walk as their rally attempt fell short.

Red Wings starter Chase Solesky allowed six runs across four innings. Newcomer RHP Clayton Beeter went an inning in relief, not allowing a run, walking one man, and striking out another. Beeter was acquired Saturday night in a trade with the New York Yankees that sent Amed Rosario to New York.

The Red Wings now head to Charlotte to open a six-game set against the Knights on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT. Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews is expected to rehab with the Wings all week in Charlotte.

Daily Report From Harrisburg:

HARRISBURG, PA. — The Harrisburg Senators blanked the Akron RubberDucks 7-0 on Sunday afternoon, riding a dominant start from starting pitcher Riley Cornelio.

Cornelio tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out one, lowering his season ERA to 2.20. Relievers Jack Sinclair and Erick Mejia combined to preserve the shutout, holding Akron to just one more hit over the final four innings.

The Senators struck early, plating two runs in the second inning. Matt Suggs opened the scoring with an RBI single, and Kevin Made drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home another.

Harrisburg added insurance late. Carlos De La Cruz launched his 10th home run of the season in the seventh, a two-run shot to left, to stretch the lead to 4-0. Suggs added an RBI double in the eighth, and Phillip Glasser capped the day with a two-run homer to right, only his fourth of the season for the contact first hitter.

The Sens are back in action this week when they travel a little North to Binghamton, New York, to face off with the Rumble Ponies. First pitch for game one is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, at 6:07 p.m. EDT.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

Daily Report From Wilmington:

JERSEY SHORE, NJ. — The Jersey Shore BlueClaws overwhelmed the Wilmington Blue Rocks 13-3 on Sunday, breaking open a tight game with a six-run fifth inning. Despite both teams tallying 11 hits, Wilmington couldn’t convert when it counted, going just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Zach Arnold led the offensive onslaught for Jersey Shore with two home runs and four RBIs, including a three-run shot in the fourth and a solo blast in the fifth. Eduardo Tait and Kehden Hettiger each added two-run doubles in the fifth to help bury Wilmington.

The game was tied 2-2 through three innings before Arnold's homer put Jersey Shore ahead for good. The BlueClaws kept piling on, taking advantage of Wilmington’s miscues, including a wild pitch and timely hitting.

Wilmington briefly led 2-1 in the third following a Marcus Brown solo homer and a Jeremy De La Rosa sac fly, but their offense stalled afterward. De La Rosa’s RBI single in the fifth was their final run.

Wilmington will return home this week and play host to the Hudson Valley Renegades. Game one of the six-game set is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, at 6:05 p.m. EDT.
