Daily Report From Rochester:

CHARLOTTE, NC. — The Rochester Red Wings continued their offensive onslaught Wednesday night, belting five home runs for the second straight game en route to a 13–8 win over the Charlotte Knights.

Catcher Francisco Mejía and left fielder Nick Schnell each homered twice and combined for six RBIs. Mejía went 3-for-5, hitting long balls from both sides of the plate, while Schnell pushed his July total to 11 home runs and 16 overall on the year. Robert Hassell III added two hits, and Andrew Pinckney contributed a three-run blast in the seventh.

Rochester jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the first and never looked back. Morales, Schnell, Chaparro, and Pinckney all chipped in during multi-run innings as the Wings scored in six different frames.

Right-hander Bryce Conley started for Rochester, allowing three runs over 4.2 innings. Seth Shuman earned the win with 1.1 scoreless frames. Recently acquired reliever Clayton Beeter gave up three runs in an inning of work, but the bullpen bent and didn’t break, with Charlotte’s Bryan Ramos and Tim Elko homering late to narrow the gap. Former MLB All-Star and Charlotte starter, Noah Syndergaard, was on the hook for four runs in four innings of work.

Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews went 0-2 with a walk, stolen base, and strikeout in his second rehab start.

Game three is set for Thursday at 7:04 p.m. EDT, with Cade Cavalli starting for the Red Wings, while opposing him will be Bryse Wilson of Charlotte.

Double-A Harrisburg Senators

Daily Report From Harrisburg:

BINGHAMTON, NY. — The Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ power at the plate, along with dominant pitching, was enough to defeat the Harrisburg Senators, 7–1, on Wednesday night.

Binghamton jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the second inning on RBI singles from Wyatt Young and Carson Benge. The Rumble Ponies extended their lead to 5–0 in the fifth when Ryan Clifford ripped a two-run double into right. Benge later launched a solo home run in the seventh and Jacob Reimer added a run-scoring forceout to round out the scoring.

Harrisburg managed just one run, a solo homer by Matt Suggs in the sixth, his first since being called up from High-A Wilmington. That was the only blemish against a Rumble Ponies staff that overwhelmed Senators hitters all night.

Right-hander Jonah Tong set the tone for Binghamton, tossing three innings with eight strikeouts and scattering five walks. Reliever Carlos Guzman picked up the win, only allowing three hits over two scoreless frames with four strikeouts. In total, five Rumble Ponies pitchers combined to allow just six hits and one run while striking out 15.

Sens starter Kyle Luckham took the loss, giving up five earned runs on five hits across five innings. The Harrisburg bullpen surrendered two more runs over the final three innings.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday for a 6:07 p.m. EDT start. Binghamton will give the ball to righty R.J. Gordon. Harrisburg’s manager, Delino DeShields hasn’t decided who they’ll send out to the mound yet.

High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks

Daily Report From Wilmington:

WILMINGTON, DE. — The Wilmington Blue Rocks nearly erased an early four-run deficit but came up just short in a 4–3 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades on Wednesday afternoon.

Wilmington trailed 4–0 through three innings before clawing back into the game with a pair of runs in the third and another in the seventh. They loaded the bases in the seventh with a chance to tie or take the lead, but Hudson Valley reliever Hueston Morrill struck out Jeremy De La Rosa to end the threat.

The Renegades did their damage early with a pair of two-run home runs off Blue Rocks starter Davian Garcia. Coby Morales homered in the first inning after a leadoff walk, and Dillon Lewis added a two-run shot in the third to push the lead to 4–0.

The Blue Rocks answered back in the bottom of the third when Donta’ Williams doubled with two outs and De La Rosa followed with a two-run homer to cut the lead in half. In the seventh, Marcus Brown drew a leadoff walk and scored on a triple by Jared McKenzie, but Wilmington couldn’t capitalize further.

Reliever Pablo Aldonis tossed three scoreless innings to keep the Rocks in the game, and Anthony Arguelles followed with two shutout frames. Offensively, Williams led Wilmington with two hits and two walks, while De La Rosa and McKenzie each drove in a run.

The series continues Thursday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT. Wilmington will roll out Travis Sthele to the mound. Hudson Valley was supposed to start Gage Zihel, but he was traded on Wednesday afternoon and is now part of the Chicago White Sox organization. The Renegades are TBD for Thursday.

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:

COLUMBIA, SC. — The Fredericksburg Nationals’ offense stalled Wednesday night as they were shut out 5–0 by the Columbia Fireflies.

The Fred-Nats managed just five hits in the loss. Columbia starter David Shields struck out seven over four scoreless innings. The Fireflies' bullpen was dominant, retiring all 15 batters they faced to seal the shutout.

Fredericksburg right-hander Brayan Romero struggled in his start, allowing five earned runs over four innings. He walked three and hit a batter, and three of the runs came across on wild pitches in the first three frames.

Columbia’s offense did most of its damage early, but added on late with a solo home run by Ramon Ramirez off Johan Otanez in the sixth.

The Fred-Nats will look to bounce back Thursday night, with left-hander Liam Sullivan slated to take the mound vs. 17-year-old Kendry Chourio for Columbia. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
