In case you missed this year’s, MLB draft this past week, the 2019 World Champion Washington Nationals with their six picks used them to plan for the future infield by selecting four pitchers, a shortstop, and a catcher.

The Nationals' prized selection came in the first round in Righthander pitcher Cade Cavalli from the University of Oklahoma. Cavalli, was ranked as the 22nd overall player in this year's draft by both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America.

According to MLB, "Cavalli produces some of the easiest velocity in his Draft class, working at 92-96 mph and topping out at 98 with riding action while expending barely more effort than he would play catch. He also can make hitters look bad with a low-80s curveball with power and depth, and he has developed an upper-80s slider/cutter that is catching up to his curve. He shows the potential for an average changeup once he starts using the pitch more often."

Cavali joins the Washington Nationals 2019 first-round pitcher pick, Jackson Rutledge, as the Nationals' top two pitching prospects.

Additionally, the Nationals added a catcher to its minor league roster by drafting Cavalli's teammate from the University of Oklahoma, Brady Lindsly.

Lindsly was selected 123 overall and in the fifth round of the 2020 draft. According to the University of Oklahoma's website, Brady weighs 221 lbs and stands in at 6 feet one inch.  Even though his senior season was cut short due to Coronavirus, Brady started all 14 games and hit .271 with six extra-base hits, had 13 RBI's, ten runs scored, and two stolen bases. He only allowed two steals and caught three runners stealing. In his junior year in 2019, Ladsly had an on-base percentage of .364 with 34 RBIs, 26 runs, 21 walks and hit .291. In 2019, Brady played in 51 games and had 47 starts at the catcher position.
