WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Washington Nationals fell to the Atlanta Braves, 9-4, this afternoon at Nationals Park, suffering their 10th sweep of the season.

Right-hander Brad Lord turned in a solid outing, working 5.1 innings and allowing just two runs on six hits. He struck out four, threw 102 pitches—70 of them for strikes—and left with a season ERA of 4.18. Over his last seven appearances, Lord holds a 2-2 record with a 6.31 ERA, striking out 30 while surrendering 25 earned runs across 35.2 innings.

But the game unraveled in the sixth inning. Clayton Beeter was tagged for four runs, and the bullpen couldn’t stop the bleeding. Newly promoted reliever Sauryn Lao allowed two more, while Shinnosuke Ogasawara gave up three, sealing a 9-4 defeat and completing a frustrating three-game sweep at the hands of the Braves.

Offensively, the Nationals managed four runs on 10 hits, showing some life at the plate. Dylan Crews went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the fifth that gave Washington a 1-0 lead. Robert Hassell III followed with an RBI single of his own to extend the lead to 2-0, and James Wood later added an RBI double—his 37th of the season and 89th RBI overall.

However, it wasn’t enough as the Nationals get swept by the Braves and now drop to 62-91 as they head on the road for the last time in 2025.

The Nationals have tomorrow off before heading to New York City to open a three-game weekend series against the Mets on Friday night. This trip marks their final road trip of the season, with a stop in Atlanta to face the Braves following the Mets series.
