Spring Training Notebook — February 13, 2026
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- Washington Nationals pitchers faced hitters for the first time this spring on Friday, with several throwing live batting practice sessions including a group that worked on the stadium field at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches.
Manager Blake Butera said he was glad to finally get his team into the stadium, even for a practice day. He noted that “anytime you can get in the stadium is nice,” whether it’s for live BPs or regular workouts. Since the Nationals share the park with the Astros, he added that having access to the main field gives both pitchers and hitters a valuable tune-up in a game-like environment. “The more we can use it for live BPs, the better,” Butera said. “We can get tracking information from the stadium, too, so anytime we can get out there, we will.”
It’s great to simulate the game environment and get the adrenaline going. You’re in the stadium, you’ve got the stands around you, the big scoreboard it feels a little more like you’re already in a game.
