Millas played in 25 games with Double-A Harrisburg to begin the year, hitting a .341 (28-for-82) batting average, which was second-best in the Eastern League. He was transferred to Rochester on 5/23 to make his Triple-A debut at Toledo, lacing a triple for his first Triple-A hit. The Missouri native settled into a groove during the month of July, leading the team with a .357 (25-for-70) clip while hitting safely in 10 consecutive games from 7/16-30.
He had his contract selected by Washington on 7/1, and after appearing in that game became the first player in the Oakland Athletics 2019 Draft Class to reach the Big Leagues. Millas would go on to finish the season with Washington turning in a .286 (8-for-28) average, which included his first MLB homer on 9/13 at Pittsburgh, off Quinn Priester.
The Washington Nationals need a backup catcher; with Keibert Ruiz clearly the number one catcher, Millas would fit perfectly as the number two in the depth chart.
Millas has drawn strong reviews for his blocking behind the plate, and entering 2023; he had an impressive 31.1 percent career caught-stealing rate. Appearing in ten games this season at the major league level, Millas had a fielding percentage of .985 caught two, and had an 18% caught-stealing rate.
Currently, Millas is currently ranked 22 among all of the Washington Nationals prospects.
