Fresh off the heels of a successful 2023 in the KBO, former Washington Nationals starting pitcher Erick Fedde is reportedly getting interest to remain in the KBO for at least another year and other MLB clubs.
According to the Yonhap News Agency’s Jeeho Yoo, the NC Dinos have made a “lucrative” offer to the now-reining KBO MVP, hoping to bring him back for at least one more year.
According to reports, Fedde made $1 million in 2023, the maximum for 1st-year foreign players. Starting in their 2nd season, foreign players can sign multi-year deals.
Teams have a $4 million salary cap for their three foreign players, but it goes up by $100K for every new season that a player re-signs for, according to the rules of the KBO.
In an interview with Yonhap News Agency, Fedde said: “There's so many unknowns. I really haven't had even time to talk much to the Dinos… You know, I have a great agent. They're going to work it out and I'm excited to see what happens. I'm going to try to do what's best for me and my family for my career."
After winning the KBO MVP award, Fedde said in the interview that “NC will always have a special place in my heart no matter what happens… This organization has been so good to me, and I will always speak highly of them no matter what in the future."
