WASHINGTON, D.C. - OCTOBER 30 - The Washington Nationals are nearing an agreement with Blake Butera to become the team’s new manager. The 33-year-old will become MLB’s youngest manager since 1972, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, who had the news first.

Butera previously worked in a variety of developmental roles with the Tampa Bay Rays organization prior to accepting the Washington job, including a two year stint as their senior director of player development. He also managed their A-ball team in 2021 and 2022, leading them to two championships and a 170-82 record over his two seasons.
