FREDERICKSBURG, VA- What a night it was for the Fredericksburg Nationals, securing a 5-0 shutout victory over the Carolina Mudcats a day after clinching their second-straight Carolina League playoff berth.

Angel Feliz got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run homer to left-center field, his third of the season.

Fredericksburg (65-63, 35-28) scored three more runs in the fifth after a throwing error and an RBI single from Brenner Cox.

Starting pitcher R.J. Sales struck out eight across five innings of work, allowing one walk and three hits. A cast of relief pitchers secured the win, four scoreless innings split across Bryant Olson, Andy Luis, Ryan Minckler and Tucker Biven.

Saturday’s win secured an above .500 record for the year for the Nationals, already playing above .500 baseball across the second half of the year.

Fredericksburg and Carolina finish their series and the regular season at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, the final game in the existence of the Mudcats before moving to Wilson, North Carolina for the 2026 season.
