Game Storylines and Notes:

The Senators continue to search for a consistent offense. This team has looked like a well oiled machine at times this season but has not been able to sustain consistency at the plate. They will have a big game or two in a row offensively and then sleep walk through the next couple. It is the nature of the game but if there’s one thing baseball teams are always searching for it is consistency. They will look to build off of last night’s 11 run, 11 hit outbreak against Erie’s LHP Carlos Pena. Speaking of consistency, the Sens will hand the ball to RHP Issac Lyon looking to turn a corner in AA ball after a rough patch in his first 3 outings. Issac’s best outing thus far came in his most recent outing and his fourth with the Sens. While the numbers won’t wow you it felt better than the previous three. He went 4IP, 3R, 2H, 2BB and 3K in a game six days ago against Richmond. While he took the loss it felt like a game that he could build off of in his development.

The Erie lineup is loaded with top Detroit Tiger prospects and kept pace with the Sens offense last night but didn’t come up with as many big hits. Both of these ball clubs can mash the baseball when they’re on. Erie will give the ball to another LHP in Carlos Pena tonight. Tonight will only be Pena’s 6th appearance of the season with the SeaWolves since arriving back in AA in early May from the Toledo Mud Hens. Pena was hit pretty hard his last time out. He gave up 6R on 5H in 5IP against Akron last week. The Sens will look to give Pena more of the same tonight.

It should be a beautiful but windy of night for baseball on City Island. The Sens look to run their winning streak to two games and take the lead in the series. Senators and SeaWolves from beautiful FNB Park. First pitch coming up soon.

Game Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Sens offense had a big night last evening. The Sens ripped 11 hits including 4 long balls. Team leader Cayden Wallace hit his 15th and 16th home run while the birthday boy Ethan Petry has started to heat up and his two long balls himself. The Sens used a big four run 8th inning to put away the SeaWolves who kept punching back and forth with the Sens all evening. Every time it felt like the Sens were going to pull away Erie would come swinging back, until the big 8th inning. Petry lead off the scoring with his second home run of the night. Johnathan Thomas followed up with an RBI double of his own and Cayden Wallace capped off the inning with a rocket down the third base line for a 2 run double. Cayden’s double broke the game open and an Erie team who kept throwing punches back all night finally lost it’s fight. Josh Randall got the win for the Sens, his third of the campaign. He’s now 3-1 and has lowered his ERA to 4.09.
