Fredericksburg Nationals Story Line

After back-to-back losses by a combined 21 runs, the Fredericksburg Nationals will try to reset heading into the weekend in Fayetteville behind Jarlin Susana on the mound.

Fredericksburg is more than one game under .500 for the first time since Jake Lowery took over Managerial duties in 2022. Robert Hassell III also continues a rehab stint with the Fredericksburg Nationals tonight.

What you need to know

  • Nationals No. 2 prospect Robert Hassell III made his 2023 debut last night for the FredNats in a rehab assignment from Double-A Harrisburg.
  • In the two seasons, Jake Lowery has managed the Fredericksburg Nationals; this is the first time ever the Frednats have been under .500 by more than one game. The team lost 2 out of 3 games last year in the season's opening series, but after that, it was never below .500. Today, the FredNats are 2-4 and will try to get back to .500 this weekend in Fayetteville.
  • The Nationals acquired Jarlin Susana as a key piece in the Juan Soto trade last season, and he quickly showed why he’s such a tantalizing young arm. Susanna flashed a fastball that routinely hits triple digits, reaching 103 MPH at one point, the fastest pitch thrown by a Nat's minor leaguer.
  • Susana walked five batters in 10.1 innings pitched with the Fredericksburg Nationals back in 2022.
