SPRING TRAINING 2025 COVERAGE
Game Recap: Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins

Yesterday afternoon, the Washington Nationals defeated the Miami Marlins 14-7. Robert Hassell III hit his first home run of Spring Training in the top of the six, which broke the game wide-open for the Nationals, scoring fellow Nationals prospect Brady House. Hassell III has been extremely hot in the first three games of the season and is now batting .444 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base with nine at-bats. He has an OPS of 1.444. Hassell III entered yesterday's game 3-6 with three RBI. [Read the full game recap here]

SPRING TRAINING 2025 COVERAGE
Kyle Finnegan returns to the Washington Nationals

After a 2024 season where he saved 38 games with a 3.56 ERA, the Washington Nationals surprisingly designated Kyle Finnegan for assignment. Three months later, they equally surprisingly re-signed him to a one-year, $6 million contract. Finnegan’s signing does raise several questions that will surely be asked, and hopefully, in the coming months, we can at least answer or attempt to have solid answers to two of the three questions.

Why did the Nationals non-tender Finnegan initially?
What role will Finnegan play in the bullpen now?
What did the Nationals gain (or lose) by re-signing Finnegan?

The one thing we do know is that fans seem to be happy with the move, and by re-signing, Finnegan Martinez now has that "closer” the was looking for or at least has one more option in the back end of the bullpen to use.

We will have more on the Finnegan signing during the day, so stay tuned to our social media channels and our live Spring Training blog for the latest news about the signing and so much more.
