Harrisburg Senators Weekly Recap: Portland Sea Dogs Series Results and Highlights

The Senators were on the road this week facing a new opponent in 2026 situated in Portland Maine, the Sea Dogs.

It was yet another week in which the Senators either tied or won the series, this week splitting the series 3 to 3 a piece. They did this despite not winning a game on the weekend. Interestingly, they now have a streak of 6 straight wins on Wednesday. I guess Hump Day is the lucky day for Harrisburg!

Game 1 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate (July 28) — Senators 8-3

The Senators bounced back to beat the Sea Dogs 8-3, overcoming an early 2-0 deficit. Portland scored in the first two innings, but Harrisburg took control in the fourth with a big rally, scoring four runs without a hit—thanks to walks and RBI groundouts from Petersen, Pichardo, White, and Lawson. Harrisburg added three more runs in the sixth on a bases-clearing double by Petry. The bullpen shut down Portland over the final five innings, with Gaston extending his scoreless streak. Despite being out-hit 10-5, Harrisburg drew nine walks and two hit-by-pitches to help secure the win.

Game 2 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate affiliate (July 29) — Senators 9-6

In a dramatic rally, the Senators overcame a 6-4 deficit in the ninth to beat Portland 9-6. Boissiere’s two-out single tied the game, and after a double steal, Thomas scored on an error to give Harrisburg a 7-6 lead. Petry then capped the rally with a two-run homer, making it 9-6. Jimenez closed it out in his debut, retiring the side in order. Lyon allowed just one run over five strong innings, extending his streak of allowing two or fewer runs in his last seven starts. Boissiere led offensively with three hits, a homer, and four RBIs, extending his hitting streak to eight games.

Game 3 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate affiliate (July 30) — Senators 4-5

The Senators fought back from a late deficit but fell 5-4 to Portland in a tense walk-off. Harrisburg took an early 2-0 lead on a homer by Lawson and a sac fly by Boissiere. Portland answered with two homers in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, then McDonough’s homer in the fifth gave them a 3-3 tie. Harrisburg re-took the lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Petersen. However, in the ninth, Gaston struggled—after a walk and single, errors allowed the tying and winning runs to score on a misplayed ball and a groundout. Harrisburg’s offense was led by Boissiere, who extended his hitting streak to nine games. Alex Clemmey pitched 2.1 innings to begin, allowing just one run with five strikeouts. The bullpen continued its strong stretch, with Huff and Brown combining for 2.2 scoreless innings.

Game 4 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate affiliate (July 31) — Senators 9-6

The Senators edged out the Sea Dogs 9-6 in a back-and-forth game that saw both teams leave the bases loaded twice. Harrisburg took an early lead in the first on a double by Petersen and a single from Boissiere, who extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Portland responded with unearned runs in the third, but Harrisburg tied it in the fourth. The game remained close, with Harrisburg taking a 4-2 lead in the sixth, only for Portland to tie it again in the seventh. Harrisburg reclaimed the lead in the eighth on an RBI single by Boissiere, and Petersen drove in two more in the ninth to seal the win. Reliever Jimenez closed out the game, escaping a bases-loaded jam. The game lasted 3 hours and 28 minutes, Harrisburg’s longest game of the season, with 20 walks and over 400 pitches thrown.

Game 5 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate affiliate (August 1) — Senators 4-7

The Senators jumped out to an early 4-0 lead but couldn’t hold it, as Portland rallied to win 7-4. Harrisburg’s offense started strong with Petersen leading off the game with a single, and Pichardo hitting a two-run homer to put the Sens ahead. Boissiere extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a double in the third, driving in another run to make it 4-0. However, Portland responded in the third with two runs and added another in the fifth to trim the deficit to one. In the sixth, a rough inning for Harrisburg’s bullpen allowed the Sea Dogs to score four runs, taking the lead. Despite strong outings from Huff and Gaston, Harrisburg was unable to mount a comeback, going down in order in the ninth. The game featured 7 walks issued by Harrisburg pitching

Game 6 — Portland Sea Dogs — Boston Red Sox affiliate affiliate (August 2) — Senators 2-12

Portland dominated the final game of the series, scoring eight runs in the sixth inning to win 12-2 and secure a split with Harrisburg. Maddox started strong but struggled in the fourth, allowing four runs, highlighted by Fraizer’s bases-clearing double. The Senators managed to score a single run in the sixth on Petry’s RBI single, but Portland responded with a massive rally in the bottom of the sixth, where Rosario’s three-run homer capped a rally that saw eight straight batters reach base and score. Boissiere added a homer in the eighth, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Branden Boissiere has been on fire for the Senators as of late with a hit in 12 straight games. His talent level has not been hidden over the years, and his name is becoming more well known as the years go on. Speaking of him in high school, his coach at Woodcrest Christian school said “It’s a pleasure to see [Brandon] play every day. He’s just an easy going kid with off-the-charts ability. He’s special.”

The Harrisburg Senators head back to Chesapeake’s home stadium to play the Baysox for the first full series in August and the first 7-game series of the year due to a makeup game on Wednesday turning into a doubleheader. With just over a month left in the season, it is crunch time!
