MLB 2021 Amateur Draft Order is Set

On Monday, October 12, 2020, Major League Baseball released the order for baseball teams for the 2021 draft.

There was some discussion previously that Major League Baseball would change how the draft order would be determined due to the shortened 2020 season because of COVID-19.

Since Major League Baseball has decided to stick with the usual standard of determining draft order, the Pittsburg Pirates will own the number one overall pick for the draft for the first time since 2011.

In a break with tradition, the 2021 draft will be held in July from the 11-13, which will be in conjunction with the All-star Game festivities in Atlanta, GA.

The Washington Nationals own the 11th pick in the draft, and the only team without a first-round pick is the Houston Astros, who forfeited their top two selections in both 2020 and 2021 as a punishment for sign stealing.
