The Washington Nationals acquired left-handed pitcher Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handed pitcher Luis Garcia and left-handed pitcher Andrew Chafin. Right-handed pitcher Zack Brzykcy has been recalled from Triple-A Rochester. Nationals Interim General Manager Mike DeBartolo announced on Wednesday.

Outside of the short MLB stint this season, Eder has been mostly used as a starter in his career. The lefty has a 6.11 ERA in 13 outings with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Eder was optioned to Triple-A Rochester following the trade.

Brown, 23, was taken in the 12th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft by the Angels out of Washington State University. Over 218 games the last two seasons with Double-A Rocket City, Brown has a slash line of .226/.320/.325 with 50 extra-base hits and 93 RBIs.
