The last move of the 2025 MLB trade deadline may have been the most surprising overall. The Nationals dealt Alex Call, and his 4 years of service time, to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two upside-down arms. While Call served well after being picked up on waivers, his fit on this team moving forward was in serious question, especially with Dylan Crews returning and Robert Hassell and Christian Franklin waiting in (and on) the wings. Dealing with him to help bring in a couple of exciting pitchers was shrewd business, so let’s meet the new arms.
Eriq Swan, RHP
Starting us off is Eriq Swan, a 2023 4th-round pick of the Dodgers. His calling card in college was his fastball, which averaged 98mph but could hit 102. However, Swan’s bugaboo was his inability to control it.
