🎙️ LOCKER ROOM LORE

There were questions going into Spring Training about whether Luis Perales would still be capable of throwing his 100 mph four-seam fastball post-Tommy John surgery. Those questions were answered during his debut with the team yesterday, averaging 99.6 mph on that four-seamer during his lone inning of work. This signals that, despite coming off a major surgery, his ceiling is still quite high, and this year will be a season of major development for the right-hander.

📅 NEXT AT BAT

  • Next Game: vs. Houston Astros, March 6, 1:05 PM ET, CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches

  • Probables: Nats — Cade Cavalli, Astros — Mike Burrows

  • Key Storyline: Can the Nats keep up this post-break roll? Can they snap their string of ties against the Astros?

World Baseball Classic Review

⚾ DUGOUT DISPATCH

Here are some of the teams’ game recaps from a couple of the games from the World Baseball Classic. The round robin stage is just around the corner!

📊 THE BOX SCORE:

  • Team USA dominated yet again, beating the Colorado Rockies 14-4 in a game that saw the team pouring on the runs with five in the 6th and four in the 8th

  • Team Dominican Republic tied the Detroit Tigers 4-4, despite the team’s three-run 9th inning and another Juan Soto home run

  • Team Israel fell to the New York Mets 5-2 in a strong pitcher’s game that didn’t break until the 8th inning, when the Mets scored four unanswered runs

  • Team Japan edged out the Hanshin Tigers to win 5-4, powered by Seiya Suzuki’s go-ahead home run and two-run RBI single

    🗣️ LOCKER ROOM LORE

As we move into the round robin stage of the Classic, there are many questions still being posed about some of the strongest teams and how roster changes could affect play in the different pools. Particularly with Teams Cuba and Puerto Rico missing multiple key players from previous WBCs, their pool seems more wide open than in previous years, where those two have dominated rather thoroughly.

💬 FAN’S CHOICE

Do you think Teams USA and Japan can be toppled in their respective pools? Who in Pool A do you think could make a deep run with Cuba and Puerto Rico on the back foot?
