ROCHESTER, NY- The Rochester Red Wings completed a six-game sweep of the Columbus Clippers, marking their first sweep of a six-game series since May 2022. That previous sweep was led by standouts Luis García Jr. and Joey Meneses.

Last Sunday, Rochester secured their first series win of the season by defeating the Syracuse Mets 11-5 in 11 innings, taking the series 4-2. This victory sparked a turnaround, as the Red Wings have now won seven consecutive games.

The series against Columbus began on Memorial Day, with Rochester hosting the Clippers at a packed Innovative Field. Chase Solesky delivered five strong innings for his second win of the year, while Darren Baker paced the offense with three hits and three RBIs. In the fourth inning, Baker and Nick Schnell executed a double steal, with Schnell swiping home. The bullpen contributed four shutout innings, allowing just two hits.

On Wednesday, Cade Cavalli dominated on the mound, tossing five scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. Offensively, Andres Chaparro and JT Arruda each hit two-run home runs, and the bullpen held Columbus hitless over four innings. This 5-0 win was Rochester’s first shutout of the season.

These victories marked the first time this year that Rochester had won three games in a row. The momentum continued as the Red Wings captured three more walk-off wins on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Each night featured a new hero, with the team twice rallying from two-run deficits in the ninth inning.

On Thursday, Drew Millas tied the game with a single, and Brady House drew a bases-loaded walk for the walk-off. Friday saw Nick Schnell’s double drive in the tying and winning runs. Saturday’s comeback was capped by a pair of two-run homers from Juan Yepez and JT Arruda, followed by back-to-back doubles to tie the game. Nick Schnell then hit a dramatic walk-off home run in the ninth.

The sweep was sealed on Sunday with a 4-3 win, highlighted by Brady House’s two doubles, both scoring Darren Baker. Parker Dunshee earned his first win for Rochester, and Marquis Grissom Jr. notched his first Triple-A save.
