Daily Report From Rochester:

ROCHESTER, NY — Down to their final strike, the Rochester Plates stormed back for a dramatic 8-7 walk-off win over the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday night.

Trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth, Juan Yepez and C.J. Stubbs opened the inning with back-to-back singles. After a flyout, Tena crushed a 2-2 pitch deep over the right-center field wall, completing a comeback that saw the Plates erase multiple deficits throughout the night.

Rochester fell behind 3-0 early after Buffalo’s Michael Stefanic hit a three-run homer in the second inning, but responded with two runs in the bottom half. Tena tied the game in the third, doubling and later scoring on a Nick Schnell groundout.

The two teams traded leads through the middle innings. Buffalo went ahead 4-3 in the fifth on an Anthony Santander solo shot, but Rochester answered with a two-run fifth that featured triples from J.T. Arruda and Yohandy Morales. The Bisons tied it at five in the seventh, then added two more runs in the top of the ninth to set up the Plates' walk-off heroics.

On the mound, starter Adrian Sampson went six innings, allowing four runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Ryan Loutos got the win despite giving up two runs in the ninth.

Arruda and Morales each logged multi-hit games, with Arruda collecting a triple and two runs scored. Morales notched his 24th multi-hit game of the season, including his own triple in the fifth.

Rochester will aim to build on the win Friday night as the series continues. Riley Cornelio is set to start for the Plates against Buffalo’s Alek Manoah. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT.

Daily Report From Harrisburg:

HARRISBURG, PA — The Harrisburg Senators used a four-run surge across the third and fifth innings and a strong start from Hyun-il Choi to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 5-3 on Thursday night at FNB Field, snapping a two-game losing streak.

After falling behind 2-0 on solo home runs by Akron’s Joe Lampe and Alex Mooney in the second inning, Harrisburg responded quickly. Seaver King got the Senators on the board with an RBI single in the third before Branden Boissiere launched a two-run homer to right-center, putting the Senators in front 3-2.

Boissiere wasn’t done. The first baseman drove in another run in the fifth, part of a two-run frame that also featured an RBI single from Sam Brown to extend the lead to 5-2. Boissiere led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk.

Hyun-il Choi delivered six solid innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out two. Samuel Vasquez pitched two clean innings in relief, and Junior Santos locked down his 11th save despite allowing a solo homer to Jake Fox in the ninth.

Harrisburg will look to make it two in a row on Friday, when they send Jackson Kent to the mound against Akron’s Khal Stephen for a 7:00 p.m. EDT start.

Daily Report From Fredericksburg:

LYNCHBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Nationals saw their 2025 season come to a heartbreaking end Thursday night, falling 5-4 to the Lynchburg Hillcats on a walk-off hit.

The loss completes a two-game sweep in the Carolina League North Division Series and eliminates the Fred=Nats from postseason contention.

Fredericksburg carried a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth and turned to reliable reliever Merrick Baldo to close the game. But with two on and nobody out, disaster struck. After catching a popped-up bunt from Dauri Fernandez, Baldo's attempt to double up Cannon Peebles at second base went awry. His throw deflected off Peebles’ thigh and eluded center fielder Brenner Cox, who couldn’t keep the ball in front despite a diving effort. The error allowed both Lynchburg runners to score easily, sending the Hillcats to the Carolina League Championship Series.

It was the second straight one-run loss for Fredericksburg, which dropped Game 1 without a ninth-inning rally and couldn’t survive a ninth-inning collapse in Game 2.

Fredericksburg finishes the year with an overall record of 65-66, including a 0-2 mark in the playoffs.

Lynchburg advances to face the Columbia Fireflies, champions of the South Division, in the 2025 Carolina League Championship Series.
