Washington Nationals Minor League Rosters Announced; Rutledge and Cavalli Confirmed to Appear with the Wilmington Blue Rocks

As we first reported last week, top Washington Nationals pitching prospects Jackson Rutledge and Cade Cavalli will appear with the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

The Blue Rocks will be led by Tommy Shields, who is entering his seventh season with the Nationals and making his first return to the dugout as a skipper since 2014. He has spent the past few seasons as the co-Field Coordinator, which he will continue to maintain and his managing duties for the Blue Rocks.

Cade Cavalli, the Washington Nationals 2020 pick in the MLB Amateur Draft, will make his professional debut in Wilmington this season. Along with Cavalli, fellow Washington Nationals pitching Prospect Jackson Rutledge will join Cavalli in Delaware. Jackson Rutledge, the 6'8" Fenton, MO native, was the 17th overall pick in the 2019 draft and rose through three levels of the minor leagues during that season.

Kieboom, Garcia, Barrera, Braymer, Parra, and Fuentes Headline Red Wing Opening Day roster

The Rochester Red Wings have announced the first roster as Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

In today's press release from the Red Wings, "Former Nationals Minor League Player of the Year Carter Kieboom will open the season on Rochester's Opening Day roster after beginning the season with Washington. Luis García, the youngest member of the 2021 Red Wings, is the first player born in the 2000s to wear a Rochester uniform. Both have graduated from MLB Pipeline's Top Prospects list, but Tres Barrera (No. 19), Ben Braymer (No. 21), and Steven Fuentes (No. 22) are all part of Washington's Top 30 list. Garcia is the youngest player on a Rochester Opening Day roster since Matt Riley in 2000 and the youngest position player on the Opening Day roster since Al Pardo in 1983."

Fredricksburg Nationals Announce their First Opening Day Roster

Today, the brand new Fredricksburg Nationals announced their opening day roster for the 2021 season.

Led by Mario Lissón, the roster will feature six players making their professional debut and 24 players making their first appearance with a full-season minor league team. It includes five players who joined the organization last summer, including Mitchell Parker, Washington's fifth-round selection in the 2020 Draft. Five countries outside the United States are represented on the 29-man squad, with five from Venezuela, two from the Dominican Republic, and Panama, Nicaragua, and Curaçao.

The FredNats begin their inaugural 2021 season on Tuesday, May 4, as they travel to Lynchburg to take on the Hillcats. Fans can listen live to the radio broadcast on the FredNats Baseball Network or watch Lynchburg's video broadcast with a subscription to MiLB.tv. The first pitch from Bank of the James Stadium is scheduled for 6:30, with the FredNats Pregame Show beginning at 6:15. After a week on the road, the FredNats will begin their home schedule on Tuesday, May 11, as they welcome the Delmarva Shorebirds to FredNats Ballpark.

Harrisburg Senators Announce 2021 Opening Day Roster

Today, the Harrisburg Senators Announced their 2021 Opening Day Roster.

The 2021 Harrisburg roster features six of the organization’s top-30 prospects per Baseball America. The highest ranked player in the top-30 is LHP Tim Cate (#8). Cate is also slated to start the season opener Tuesday night. Cate is joined by RHP Sterling Sharp (#26) as the only other pitcher in the top-30. INF Drew Mendoza (#11) is the highest ranked position player and he’s joined by INF Jackson Cluff (#12). The top-30 is rounded out by C Jakson Reetz (#25) and OF Nick Banks (#29).

The Senators home opener is Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The gates open to the FNB field for the home opener at 5:00 p.m. The season opener for the Senators is Tuesday, May 4 when they travel to play the Somerset Patriots in a season-opening six-game road series. The game Tuesday night is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m.
