Game storylines and notes

The Washington Nationals look to snap a five-game losing streak today as they face the Milwaukee Brewers. The Nationals will send LHP DJ Herz (1-4; 4.79 ERA) to the mound, while the Brewers will send RHP Aaron Civale (2-7; 4.92 ERA) to face the Nationals.

Last time out.

The Washington Nationals kicked off a ten-game home stand last night with a loss against the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-3. Tied at three in the sixth, the Brewers scored five unanswered runs over four innings, highlighted by a solo home run by William Contreras.

The Nationals are now 49-61 for the season and are 23-28 at home. They will start the month of August 0-1, start the ten-game homestand with a loss, and are now on a five-game losing streak.

Last night, CJ Abrams went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning and now has hit safely in six of his last eight games. [More on CJ later in our game Notes]

James Wood went 1-for-4 with a stolen base to extend his on-base streak to seven games.

Can you please turn on the CJ? It's getting hot outside.
