Fredericksburg, VA—Today, RHP Travis Sykora, the Nationals' third-round pick in the 2023 draft, made his professional debut; however, the Fredericksburg Nationals lost against the Down East Wood Ducks, 6-3.

Today, RHP Travis Sykora gave up three runs on four hits over 2.0 innings over 52 pitches, 30 being strikes and striking out three. Sykora faced 12 batters over his innings pitched. Travis Sykora got the loss for the Fredericksburg Nationals and now has an ERA of 9.00.

After Sykora’s two innings of work, RHP Bryan Polanco went to work and pitched 5.0 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out three, and facing 20 batters. Polanco threw a total of 73 pitches with 48 of them being strikes.

Elijah Green launched a solo home run to dead center field in the home half of the fifth to get the FredNats on the board. But in the next half inning, Down East’s JoJo Blackmon connected for a two-run shot to put the Wood Ducks in front 5-1.

An E6 in the bottom of the eighth helped the Nationals cut their deficit to just two runs, but the Wood Ducks added an insurance run in the 9th and wrapped up a 6-3 win over the FredNats.

The Fredericksburg Nationals will continue their series tomorrow evening against the Down East Wood Ducks in Fredericksburg, VA. The first pitch will be at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
