Last night the Atlanta Braves got eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS for the second year in a row. The Los Angeles Dodgers also got eliminated by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Both the Diamondbacks and the Phillies were Wild Card teams. This begs the question does the MLB playoffs need to be revamped?

No. The difference between a 100 win team and a 90 win team is marginal. The benefit of not having to play a three game set is huge. The Dodgers, Braves, and Orioles all had starting pitching issues. If we wanted the best teams in the regular season to win the playoffs, then let's just send those division winning teams only. It's the playoffs, it's fun, and it's hard to win.
