Game storylines and notes
The Washington Nationals continue this series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night. The Nationals are 8-6 (.571) over their last 14 games. The Nationals claimed series victories in three of their last four series, topping the Houston Astros (2-1), Los Angeles Dodgers (2-1), and San Francisco Giants (2-1).
Last time out.
The Nationals fell to the Dodgers, 4-1, in Tuesday's first game of the series.
The Dodgers evened up the season series with the Nationals last night, winning their second game over Washington. The Dodgers are now 6-4 against Washington since the beginning of 2023 and continue to dominate Washington at Nationals Park. Over the last seven years, dating back to 2018, Los Angeles is 14-3 against the Nationals, which is the best record in the National League against an opponent on the road, ahead of the Braves, who are 12-3 against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium over that same time frame.
Welcome back to the Show. This morning, the Washington Nationals recalled infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester. On Wednesday, they placed outfielder Lane Thomas on the 10-day Injured List with a sprain of the left MCL.
Lipscomb, 23, returns to the Nationals after being optioned to Rochester on April 15. He hit .224 with one homer, four RBI, three walks, four stolen bases, and seven runs scored in 14 games during his first stint with Washington from March 30 to April 14. In four games with Rochester, Lipscomb went 4-for-16 (.250) with two RBI while playing both second base (2 G) and third base (2 G).
Hot at short.
