Game Story Line

The Washington Nationals will host their NL East Division rivals, The New York Mets.

Game Highlights

  • Yesterday, the Washington Nationals pulled off a win against the Mimi Marlins, thanks to the impressive hitting of Washington Nationals prospect James Wood. Wood hit a massive 422-foot homerun to dead-center in the top of the fifth. This was the second day in a row that the Washington Nationals prospect hit a massive homerun during Spring Training. Even though this was only the second game of Spring Training, it is looking great for the 21-year-old prospect.

  • Making his spring training debut, left-hander MacKenzie Gore also appeared sharp and cruised through his two innings of work, striking out four and throwing 21 of his 26 pitches for strikes. Gore also dispatched the Marlins in the bottom of the first with only 10 pitches including strikeouts of Marlins players. Luis Arraez and Jon Berti.

  • This afternoon, the Nationals will send RHP Josiah Gray to face their divisional rivals, The New York Mets.

  • Quotable:

    • He does everything the right way. … I’ve got no complaints. I love watching him play. He’s going to be special.” - Manager Dave Martinez on the outstanding play of Washington Nationals Prospect James Wood.

On the bump for the Nationals: RHP Josiah Gray

LHP Josiah Gray will be making his first start of the 2024 season and Spring Training.
