Yesterday's Game

The Nationals took a tough loss as they fell 9-1 vs. the Yankees. The Nationals could not get much done on offense as they could only muster 3 hits. The Nationals pitchers could not stop Aaron Judge as he went 3-4 with 6 RBI and 3 home runs.

The “Big Inning” killed the Nationals as they gave up 5 runs in the second inning and 3 runs in the 7th inning. Washington also lost a key player as Stone Garrett was carted off the field late in the game. The Nationals' defense was not ready for every play as they made 2 errors.

The Nationals are looking to bounce back and take game 3 of the series as well as win the series against the Yankees.

Player on a roll - Joey Meneses

Joey Meneses is on a roll. In his last 30 games, Meneses has a .292 AVG, .356 OBP, .483 SLG, 5 HR, and 20 RBI. Joey Meneses has been a huge part of the Nationals' recent success.

Nationals Pitcher - Patrick Corbin

Patrick Corbin is having a better season than he did in 2022. Corbin is 8-11 in 25 games. In 143.1 IP Corbin has a 1.47 WHIP and 97 strikeouts for a left-handed pitcher.

The Yankees

If the Nationals want to win this series and game they must stop Aaron Judge. If they stop Judge it will set them up for success in the game. When the Nationals won 2-1 on August 22nd the Nationals held Judge as he went 0-4 3 SO.

Then on August 23rd, the Nationals lost 9-1 vs the Yankees and JUdge went 3-4 6 RBI and 3 homer runs. This proves that the Nationals must stop Judge as well as the other parts of the Yankees order like Gleyber Torres. The Nationals will also be going up against Michael King for the Yankees who is very good and will show how ready and battle-tested the Nationals are.
