Game Highlights

  1. It’s all about the start? or is it about the end? Washington Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan is tied for first in Major League Baseball with 10 saves in the month of August. Finnegan is 2–0 with a 2.63 ERA (4 ER/13.2 IP) and 14 strikeouts against just four walks in 14 appearances. Additionally, Finnegan ranks seventh in the NL with a career-high 25 saves just this season. Lastly, Finnegan has recorded 14 saves, and five holds and has pitched to a 1.59 ERA in his last 32 appearances.

  2. We are going streaking. The Washington Nationals have won six of their 10 games, nine of their last 14, 12 of their last 18. Since July 8, the Washington Nationals are 28-18, which is the fourth-best record in the NL and they are tied for the sixth-based record in MLB.

  3. Welcome back Mr. Carter, we are glad to have you. Since returning to the Major Leagues for the first time since 2021, Carter Kieboom has hit safely in five of seven games, going 7-for-26 (.269) with a double, three homers, five RBI, one hit by pitch, and four runs.

  4. You are looking good in that uniform. During the 2023 season, the Washington Nationals have worn six different uniforms. Here are their records in each of them:

    1. White Script Nationals: 12-10

    2. Nationals City Connect Cherry Blossoms: 8-9

    3. Nationals Blue Alternate: 23-24

    4. Nationals Road Gray: 16-21

    5. Nationals Red Curly W: 3-5

    6. Nationals’ Special #42: 0-1

On the bump for the Nationals: RHP Joan Adon

Right-hander Joan Adon climbed to the No. 7 prospect in Washington’s system per Baseball America entering the 2022 season. Adon began his professional career as a reliever but converted to the starting rotation for the 2019 season. In 2021, became the 21st pitcher drafted/signed and developed by the Nationals (2005-pres.).

Last time out. Adon pitched 6.0 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, did not walk any hitters, and struck out three on August 25 at Miami, which earned his second win of the season in the Nationals’ 7-4 victory

Against the Marlins.  Adon will face the Marlins for the second time this season tonight. He earned the win last Friday at Ioan Depot Park. Adon is 1-2 with a 5.93 ERA (9 ER/ 13.2 IP) with seven strikeouts in three career starts against Miami.
