Washington Nationals Lineup (Subject to change)
Game Story Line & Notes
The Nationals announced Gray was placed on the 15-day IL today with what the team termed a right elbow/forearm flexor strain. Starting instead of Gray will be RHP Joan Adon, who is getting his first start of the 2024 season.
Last time out. Last night, the Washington Nationals beat the San Fransico Giants 8-1. Thomas jumped on a 1-0 curveball over the heart of the plate from Giants rookie right-hander Landen Roupp, sending it a Statcast-projected 402 feet at 110.6 mph off the bat for a two-run shot in the fifth inning, and the Nationals never looked back. RHP Trevor Williams pitched five innings, giving up the only run on five hits.
The Hot Corner. Last night, Washington Nationals 3B Trey Lipscomb, the Nationals' No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, went 3-for-3 and became just the fourth Nationals rookie to steal home in recent Nationals history, joining CJ Abrams (2022), Trea Turner ('16) and Bryce Harper ('12). Additionally, after his single in the 8th inning of last night’s game, Lipscomb has now recorded just the 7th three-hit, three-stolen base game in Nationals history (2005.) and becomes the first rookie to achieve this. Lipscomb also joined Juan Soto as the only two Nationals rookies to steal three bases in a game.
