Game Recap: Harrisburg Senators try to rally late but fall short against the Altoona Curve.

Harrisburg scored three times in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead, but Altoona came back with a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 5-4 lead.

Game Recap: Harrisburg Senators try to rally late but fall short against the Altoona Curve.

Wednesday night in Altoona, PA the Harrisburg Senators rallied to take a late lead but gave it up in their 5-4 loss to Altoona. Harrisburg scored three times in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead, but Altoona came back with a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 5-4 lead.

The Senators put a runner on first with one out in the ninth. Andrew Alvarez was outstanding in the start, doing a double-A high seven innings, and allowing just three runs on two hits. He finished his outing retiring the final 13 batters.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth and a runner at first, Patrick Ruotolo gave up a two-run home run to Joe Perez to give Altoona a 5-4 lead.

The game ended on an interference call on Dylan Crews with JT Arruda trying to steal second base. Arruda was safe but Crews was ruled to have interfered with the catcher while striking out. Washington Nationals prospect Brady House had an RBI triple, the Senators third triple of the series.

The Senators went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded four at second and third. Harrisburg scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the eighth inning on sacrifice flies.

Up next: The Senators and Altoona Curve play game three of their six-game series tonight, with the first pitch at 6:00 p.m. LHP Mitchell Parker is projected to start tonight’s game. Parker enters tonight’s game with a record of  9-5 and an ERA of 4.22.
