Incoming Orioles Owner David Rubenstein expressed optimism in reaching an agreement with the Washington Nationals regarding MASN

The incoming Orioles owner, David Rubenstein, expressed optimism about reaching an agreement with the Washington Nationals regarding the MASN situation after the sale of the Orioles is completed, according to Matt Weyrich of the Baltimore Sun.

During a forum tonight at the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore, Rubenstein, the incoming Orioles owner, discussed the top priorities for him as soon as he officially assumes ownership of the Baltimore Orioles.

In the article, according to Baltimore Sun’s Matt Weyrich [Subscription Required], “Rubenstein expressed optimism in reaching an agreement after the sale is finalized.” Rubenstein said, “I am working on it,” Rubenstein said. “I just think it’s premature to say what the resolution will be but my goal is to take this away from the lawyers and give it back to the business people to resolve. So, I’m hopeful and I have reason to believe that I can get this done, but I’m not a miracle worker.

Rubstein continued: “It’s been going on for a long time but I think the baseball commissioner would like to get this resolved. I think all the owners would like to get this resolved, and I would like to get it resolved. But I don’t have an easy answer yet. If it was easy, it would have been resolved of course, but I think it’s something I am really focused on and I think I have reason to believe that we can get something done.”

We won't rehash the issue, but for those who are just tuning in, broadcast fees paid to the Orioles, the Washington Nationals, and MASN have been at the center of a dispute between the two teams for years. With the sale of the Orioles on track to be finalized tomorrow, things are looking up for the Nationals in finally collecting the fees owed to the team."

More to come…
