Mike DeBartolo has made his second trade at the deadline, dealing relievers Andrew Chafin and Luis García to the Angels for two prospects. DeBartolo effectively turned two relievers signed midseason (Chafin in May and García this July) into controllable assets. While neither prospect acquired is glamorous, both players carry some intrigue. With that said, let’s examine the trade return!

Jake Eder, LHP
Jake Eder has had an interesting path over the last few years. A former 4th-round pick of the Miami Marlins in 2020, Eder established himself as a top-100 prospect when he pitched to a 1.77 ERA and 2.48 FIP in 2021. However, the dreaded Tommy John surgery sidelined him for all of 2022.
